Free Online CPR Course: CPR and AED Awareness

What to do when someone collapses: check, call 911, push hard and fast, and use an AED. Also choking, children and infants, and opioid overdose. Six short lessons based on the 2025 American Heart Association guidelines, a 15-question quiz and a free certificate of completion.

What you'll learn

  1. Check the scene and the person
  2. Call 911 and send someone for an AED
  3. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest
  4. Use the AED as soon as it arrives

This course is general awareness information. It is not a CPR, AED or first aid certification, it will not meet a job requirement for CPR training, and it does not replace a hands-on class. In an emergency, call 911 first and follow the dispatcher's instructions.

Video lessons don't replace hands-on training. Practice these skills in a supervised class with a qualified instructor before you rely on them at work.

Based on the 2025 guidelines

Follows the American Heart Association's 2025 CPR guidelines and the joint AHA and Red Cross first aid guidelines, with the sources linked in every lesson.

Awareness, not certification

This course explains the steps. A hands-on class is where you practice them and earn a CPR card; links are at the end.
